Today, we’re here to discuss some of the best new PC games that will be released in 2018. Some games already have an official release date, but there are other entries that’s debut still needs to be announced (TBA). State Of Decay is an open-world action RPG survival game that’s set in a zombie apocalyptic setting. The first game raised the bar pretty high, especially since there are not many other good survival horror games out there. The sequel to the highly acclaimed game has a lot of people talking and the E3 gameplay footage showed a lot of potential. Hopefully, Undead Labs is able to live up to the hype and they deliver a well-polished and fun game.
One of the main problems people had with the first State Of Decay game is that it didn’t have a co-op mode. Not being able to explore this huge and exciting world (and survive in it) with a buddy is just shameful. Good news is that State Of Decay 2 will have a co-op mode (up to 4 people) where you can experience the engaging story with friends. Since all of your choices in the game make a huge impact on the story, it will be interesting to see how people cooperate surviving in this apocalyptic wasteland.

The first State Of Decay game turned out to be one of the best zombie survival games on the market to date. It had great mechanics, an engaging and thrilling story that kept players on the edge of their seats and quite impressive graphics. 5. Sea of Thieves

Pirate games have always been my sweet spot for some strange reason. I was blown away by Sid Meier’s Pirates! when I first played it and seeing Sea of Thieves seems to bring out the same side of me. Rather than a strategy game, Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer action game where you and your crew play as pirates out for treasure and adventures.
Communication and teamwork are crucial to succeed in Sea of Thieves, so the use of voice chat is highly recommended. For example, the player who is at the wheel sailing the ship cannot look at the world map. This means that another player needs to go below the deck and check the map for navigation. For even more precise sailing, another member of the crew can go up on the crow’s nest and look out for debris, obstacles or other pirate ships on the horizon.

Exploring the enormous world of Sea of Thieves with friends can be a great thing to do. However, my jaw dropped when I first saw the naval battles in this game. The ship combat looks amazing and being able to launch a crewmate onto the enemy pirate ship is just bonkers. And the fact that other players do not have better weapons (only more experience using them) is also a smart way of balancing the game.
All in all, Sea of Thieves seems like a very promising new PC release. Unfortunately, we will have to wait till the game is released in March to see. Until then, watch this gameplay video showcasing some of the most interesting things about the game or go ahead and pre-order Sea of Thieves now!

4. A Way Out

The next game on the list is a special one. A Way Out is not the typical third-person action adventure game we all know so well. The thing that differentiates this game from the rest is that it can only be played in co-op. The two players will have to play the game simultaneously (split-screen) and cooperatively progress through the plot.
The game revolves around two inmates (Leo and Vincent) who form an alliance to break out of prison and stay on the run. Since the game is only playable in co-op, the two players will have to use teamwork to achieve their goals. The great thing about A Way Out is that players can choose how they want to tackle each situation. Some players might prefer a stealthy approach, while others would rather go in with guns blazing.

3. Darksiders 3

When the first Darksiders game was released in 2010, people were fascinated by the game’s engaging story and stunning visuals. Players took control of War (one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse) on a quest to rid the evil from a post-apocalyptic Earth. The characters in this game were interesting and the combat system was revolutionary. And by the looks of it, Darksiders 3 has the potential to be even more successful than its predecessor.
The third game in the franchise is set in a similar setting to the first one, but this time we get to play as Fury rather than War. This character uses her mythical whip and magical abilities to fight the enemies she encounters on the way. Just like in previous installments, the game will be set in an open-world setting. Players are encouraged to explore as much as they can, as there are many hidden treasures, shortcuts and dungeons to be discovered.
Darksiders 3 has had a pretty hard development process to say the least. Nobody knew if we would ever get this game after THQ declared bankruptcy in 2012. If you want to read more about the story, check out this VentureBeat article about it!
Unfortunately, there’s not much that we know about the game yet, but if the third game can get anywhere close to being as good as the first one, we’re in for a treat! Darksiders has introduced a new era of action RPG games and fans have been waiting for a new Darksiders game for years. And we have faith in Gunfire Games, as they’ve already made some great games before.

2. Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter is a franchise that was initially released for PlayStation 2 back in 2004. There have been many games in this series, but only a handful of them have been released for PC. Finally in 2018 we are getting a fully-fledged Monster Hunter game that we can enjoy on our computers. And by the looks of it, Monster Hunter: World is going to stay true to the original games while introducing many new elements that improve the overall gameplay.
The magical world of Monster Hunter is inhabited by monsters of all shapes and sizes that have incredible amounts of creativity put into them. Some beasts that you’ll encounter on your adventures can easily be defeated, while others will require teamwork, planning and skill to take down. Thankfully, you can do this however you like, as there are 14 different weapons to choose from, all with their unique fighting style.

Obviously, the most important part of the game are the monsters you’re hunting and Capcom did an amazing job designing them. All of the monsters have their own set of abilities, they behave differently and they give unique resources that can be later used to craft weapons and armor for your character. And there’s a lot of gear waiting to be crafted in Monster Hunter: World!

1. Far Cry 5

The number one spot on our best new PC games list goes to the new release from Ubisoft; Far Cry 5. This franchise has been in the gaming industry since 2004 and it truly revolutionized first-person shooters as we know them. There have been some fantastic games in this series and we are very optimistic about the fifth main title. According to the footage that we’ve seen so far, Far Cry 5 might just be the game that we have all been waiting for!
Similarly to the previous games, Far Cry 5 is going to have an open-world that players can roam and explore as they see fit. As we would expect from a Far Cry game, the map is enormous and there’s a lot of things that you can do. For example, the world is filled with hostile outposts that you can liberate according to your playstyle. If you choose, you can recruit locals to fight for your cause and help you in your already liberated outposts. You’ll also be able to tame wild beasts that will accompany and assist you in battle and do various other things. Exploring the map is recommended as there are many hidden crates scattered around the world.

In Far Cry 5 you play as a deputy sheriff who is sent to the fictional Hope County in Montana, USA. For the first time ever in Far Cry history, you are not actually playing a pre-defined character; players are able to customize their character however they want. Far Cry games have always had great villains and Far Cry 5 won’t be any different. The main villain of the game is called Seed (aka “the Father”), who is a ruthless megalomaniac and cult leader.
Unfortunately, Far Cry 5 is not yet released, but there are other great games from this franchise that you could be playing right now! Since there are many games in this series, we are only going to feature the very best. Picking any of these will surely serve as a source of entertainment until Far Cry 5 is released!
