Cindy Crawford was first discovered by a local photographer at her high school, DeKaib High School. Crawford, at the age of 17, made it to the finals of Elite Model Management’s Look of the Year Competition while graduating as valedictorian of her class.

But Cindy wasn’t always as successful, the first agency she tried her luck with weren’t sure about her or about her mole. Obviously, it was their loss. Cindy Crawford changed a lot of people’s perception about the sexy American girl.

Cindy was one of the original Supermodels, walking the runway for almost everyone. From Chanel, Ralph Lauren to Dolce Gabbana and Karl Lagerfeld. Crawford was one of the first models to pose for Playboy.

Soon after the Playboy photos and all the fame Crawford gathered until that point, Cindy was asked by MTV to host the show “House of Style”. The show was supposed to mix fashion and music in a way that appeals to a large audience. Cindy was perfect for the part, hosting it for six years. Because of “House of Style”, Cindy Crawford got to be known even more, beyond what the pages of the magazines could do.

“Cindy Crawford’s Basic Face” is Crawford’s instructional make-up book. A collaboration with Sonia Kashuk for the make-up book proved to be a total success.

Cindy ventured in other fields of work that needed her entrepreneurial skills, such as “Meaningful Beauty”, a line of skincare products in collaboration with Jean-Luis Sebagh or “Cindy Crawford Home Collection”, a collection of furniture and accessories.

Crawford is married to Rande Gerber and lives in Malibu with him and their two children, Kaia and Presley.
