10. Henry-Portrait Of A Serial Killer (1986)
This film manages to be almost a complete biography of Henry Lee Lucas, a perversely murderer, in love with animals, children and bodies, dead ones if there was supposed to be said any more. Incredible but true, the killer confessed over 600 murders while being imprisoned and this story makes the script of the 1986th horror. Thankfully, many of the stories he decided to tell while he was in jail showed to be only inventions of this murderer, but unfortunately, not all of them. Actually, in more then two decades he achieved an unbelievable number of 350 people killed.
After he killed his own mother, Lucas spent 10 years in jail, but he was set free because prisons were to crowded at the moment. Once free, he spent the next years on the streets where he met Ottis Toole, a man who became his friend and accomplice in over 108 murders. Lucas died in prison, in 2001, at the age of 66.
Henry-Portrait Of A Serial Killer was filmed during 1985 but the producers didn’t immediately find a distributor. It was shot in less then a month, with a budget of $110.000, starring Michael Rooker as Henry, Tom Towles as Ottis and Tracy Arnold as Becky – Ottis’ sister.

6. The Moth Man Prophecies (2002)
Between November 1966 and December 1967, several persons from West Virginia told they had seen a strange creature with the body of a man, huge wings and red eyes. Combined with many paranormal events in the area, this creature inspired a book named The Mothman Propechies, written in 1974 by journalist John. A. Keel. that afterwards inspired the film produced in the year of 2002.
John Klein (Richard Gere), a journalist from Washington Post, to investigate his wife’s – Mary Klein (Debra Messing) – death under mysterious circumstances. Two years after the car accident that caused Mary’s death, John arrives in Point Pleasant but has no idea how did he get there. Soon he finds out from a local police officer (Laura Linney) that unexplained stories are common in the area. Several people described red eyed creatures with wings reliable to those drawn by his wife before she died.
One explication of this phenomenon seems to be that people actually saw a huge sand crane that deviated from its curse. Another theory speaks about a mutant owl and another one says that people in the area were hallucinating after they crashed to a mass hysteria. On the other hand, the Indian tribes in the area have very old legends talking about big, red eyed birds they used to call flying heads.
