3. Panic! At The Disco
If you had an emo or scene phase, you must know who Panic! At The Disco is. Back in 2004, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brent Wilson, replaced in 2006 by Jon Walker, and Brendon Urie, created this band, at first as a Blink-182 cover band.
One year later, they released their first album “A fever You Can’t Sweat Out” and with their unique style, attractive to the teens of those times, they became a huge trend. In 2008, their second album “Pretty. Odd.”, inspired by the 60s music, was the last as quartet, Ross and Walker leaving and making their own band. Urie and Smith continued as a duo with 2 more albums “Vices & Virtues” (2011) and “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die! (2013).
“ The members of the group left one by one ”
2015
Like the petals of a flower falling one by one, so did the members of Panic! At The Disco left one by one – Spencer Smith in 2015 – and now the band consists only of Urie.
All by himself, Brendon decided to keep the band alive and in April released the single “Hallelujah”, which was eventually followed by “Victorious” and “Emperor’s New Clothes”, all of them belonging to the fifth album, “Death of a Bachelor”, which will be released at the beginning of 2016. On the official Facebook page, the album was described as “This album is me. Running to the piano. Building a drum kit. Strumming a guitar. Some things never change.”
2. Bring me the horizon
Another English band, formed in 2003, consisting of Oliver Sykes, Lee Malia, Matt Kean, Matt Nicholls and Jordan Fish and with the name being a reference to the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl movie, Bring Me the Horizon started slowly, but it got its recognition.
Their debut album was released in 2006 under the name “Count Your Blessings”. In 2008 they toured along big international names, but in 2012, they reached their highest with the release of “Sempiternal”, which followed many tours and a bigger fanbase.
2015
2015 came with Bring me the Horizon’s fifth album, the electronic rock “That’s the Spirit” and in July the singles for “Happy Song” and “Throne” were released, while “True Friends” followed in August. The album was generally viewed as great, being rated with 5 stars out of 5 and 10/10, but there were critics not so happy about the slight change in the sound.
Rock Sound reviewed it as “It’s a 43-minute blast of ingenious, future-proof rock, virtually flawless but from a band that–importantly–are still flawed like the rest of us. This is the best album you’ll hear this year and more significantly, it’s the most important rock album of the decade.”
1. Fall out boy
If you remember Panic! At The Disco, then you surely remember Fall Out Boy. The Chicago band was formed in 2001 by Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley. Their debut album was released in 2003, but what made them famous was the 2005 “From under the Cork Tree”, especially the hit “Dance, dance”.
In 2007 “Infinity on High” followed and later “Folie a Deux” followed. Despite being at the top of the world, in 2009, the band took a break and returned only four years later with fresh music.
2015
Returning to the music scene is never easy, but Fall out boy tried to make its way slowly, in early 2015 finally releasing the sixth album, “American beauty/American psycho”, most tracks being written while on tour with Paramore. The themes and motifs approached are taken from real life, both the singers’ personal life – i.e. Pete Wentz’ divorce from Ashley Simpson – but also from America’s current socio-political situation.
