Actual trends in action film include a development toward more complex fight scenes in Western films. This trend is influenced by the huge success of Hong Kong action cinema<\/a> in Asia and in Europe. Asian martial arts elements, as kung-fu and karate can now be found in a lot of non-Asian action films.<\/p>\n

6. White House Down<\/h2>\n

This film really should\u00a0be fully appreciated by those who grew up on the vacuous Hollywood action movies of the 90’s, it is simply amazing that Roland Emmerich is still able to do a silly movie similar to the ones that were so successful in those days.<\/p>\n

We can say that this movie is so stupid that it is brilliant. There’s a hero who turns from an average cop into a professional commando (Channing Tatum<\/a>), who has to rescue the US president (Jamie Foxx<\/a>), there is a World War provoking evil, enough explosions, a little girl swinging the presidential flag in slow motion, while Abraham Lincoln’s pocket watch saves a life!<\/p>\n

It is not entirely clear how seriously the creators meant all this, but when the boss asks the pillar of the secret services (Maggie Gyllenhaal<\/a>) after a long shift:\u00a0 how come that she is still awake, and she answers him with a pokerface\u00a0 that “caffeine and patriotism, sir” then we start to understand that they may have even laugh a lot\u00a0 during the film session.<\/p>\n

5. Casino Royale<\/h2>\n

The Casino Royale is a great movie, which\u00a0 introduced cleverly Daniel Craig<\/a>‘s rough, tough, 21st-century James Bond, which is radically different from its predecessors. After the beginning we soon get the first ten-minute, frantic action orgy, a chase scene stitched with acrobatic elements in which Bond tries to catch his rival in Madagascar.<\/p>\n

When the subject elegantly jumps over a window, the pursuer Bond crosses the wall, breaks down the concrete with a grasper and simply throws the empty gun at the guy’s head. So even though we have not heard a word yet from him, it is already clear that this Bond does not care about vodka martini, and does not mince, but always chooses the most effective means to achieve his goals.<\/p>\n

It is therefore absurd when the unreasonably long film with it’s two and a half hours of play time will turn into a sniveling lover, but relax, at the end our zippy Bond is born with his carved face.<\/p>\n
