His parents sent the rebel teenager &#8211; living under the spell of rock and roll &#8211; at the age of 17 to shock therapy to heal him from his mood swings and deviances (as bisexuality), but the treatment was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>At the University he studied philosophy and literature, he also had an independent radio show &#8211; but this did not enjoy a particular success, because his favorites were far from the public taste. He founded his first band at the university, he occupied himself with creative writing, he published short stories.<\/p>\n<p><em>At the <\/em>age of 22 he began to open his wings as a songwriter at <a href=\"https:\/\/rateyourmusic.com\/label\/pickwick_records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pickwick Records<\/a> record company \u2013 he met the Welsh John Cale in this period, who studied music in New York and played music with the avant-garde composer La Monte Young. Walk On The Wild Side<\/h2>\n<p class=\"formatted-entry-p\">Reed quitted the Velvet Underground in August 1970 (which was left by his creative partner, <a href=\"http:\/\/rateyourmusic.com\/artist\/john_cale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Cale<\/a> with a promise of eternal wrath). He worked for a while at his father&#8217;s accounting agency in the position of a typist, but one year later he signed a contract with the RCA record label.<\/p>\n<p>His first, untitled album did not particularly stir up waves &#8211; unlike the second Lou Reed album, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/albumreviews\/transformer-19730104\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transformer<\/a>&#8221; (which, not coincidentally, many believe is the first solo album of Lou Reed). The house is located in the elegant district of <a href=\"http:\/\/virtualglobetrotting.com\/map\/lou-reeds-house\/view\/google\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Hampton<\/a> on the Long Island peninsula. They considered this place as their spiritual home after their urban life.<\/p>\n<p>He was 71 when he died from hepatitis. Laurie Anderson dropped a few words about the circumstances in an obituary published in a local newspaper called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/easthamptonstar.com\/Obituaries\/20131031\/Lou-Reed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Hampton Star<\/a>\u201d. According to the widow, the singer -who was the master of the martial art of Chinese origin- &#8220;practiced the famous 21. exercise of tai chi in the air with his musician hands&#8221;, when he died.<\/p>\n<p>The pioneer of rock was only 71 years old when he died.
