But regardless of who wins, before them there where others who did a lot or at least enough for the country, people whom they <strong>would have to work very hard to surpass<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Something old<\/h3>\n<p>Looking back in time the <strong>USA presidents have been a men<\/strong> more or less capable of keeping the country together and safe in front of the enemies. We are talking about the founders, about those who transformed the colonies into a nation capable of taking its destiny into its own hands.<\/p>\n<p>We are talking about those chiefs of state who <strong>aided the nation into becoming a great power<\/strong> on the globe, occasionally the greatest. Some of these men started slowly, but brick by brick they brought change and became responsible for the evolution of the American citizens. So, we are going to take a look at <strong>10 of the American presidents who did the most<\/strong> for the nation state and who are definitely remembered in history books.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>10. James Madison (1809 \u2013 1817)<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-82641\" title=\"James Madison the 4th president of the USA\" src=\"http:\/\/6toplists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/James-Madison2-247x300.jpg\" alt=\"best president in the USA\" width=\"205\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/6toplists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/James-Madison2-247x300.jpg 247w, https:\/\/6toplists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/James-Madison2-768x935.jpg 768w, https:\/\/6toplists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/James-Madison2-841x1024.jpg 841w, https:\/\/6toplists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/James-Madison2-205x250.jpg 205w, https:\/\/6toplists.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/James-Madison2-510x621.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 205px) 100vw, 205px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"formatted-entry-p\">Born in 1751 in Virginia, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/James_Madison\" target=\"_blank\">James Madison<\/a> was the <strong>eldest out of the twelve children<\/strong> of James Madison Sr. and Eleanor Conway, owners of a tobacco plantation.<\/p>\n<p>Due to his family\u2019s financial stability, James Madison Jr.<strong> had the opportunity to study<\/strong> Latin, Greek, mathematics, science, geography, philosophy and rhetoric at the College of New Jersey \u2013 now known as Princeton University \u2013 and later continued his studies with Hebrew, political philosophy and law, but not to practice it.<\/p>\n<p>Later <strong>he served in the military<\/strong>, time during which he became the prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biography.com\/people\/thomas-jefferson-9353715\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Jefferson<\/a> and eventually joined the Continental Congress. But his biggest role was yet to come. Madison and other nationalists decided to take matters in their own hands and face the debts brought by the Revolution. Madison developed the so called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Virginia_Plan\" target=\"_blank\">Virginia Plan<\/a>\u201d and <strong>became the Father of the Constitution<\/strong> and later of the Bill of Rights.<\/p>\n<div id=\"quote_shortcode\" class=\"sixtop-post-quote post-quote-right\" >\n<div class=\"quote-sign-box hidden-on-desktop\"><\/div>\n<p>        &ldquo; The Father of the Constitution &rdquo;<\/p>\n<div id=\"quote_shortcode_after\">\n        <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>The 4<sup>th<\/sup> president<\/h3>\n<p>After a period of being the Secretary of State, at the order of Jefferson, Madison was inaugurated president in 1809. In 1816 he vetoed the bill approving the creation of a second bank that would aid them in the war against Britain. His and his fellow assistants\u2019 great commandment <strong>led to the War of success <\/strong>ending in their favour.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the European Americans were not the only ones advantaged throughout Madison\u2019s time spent as president. Reagan continued his studies at \u201cEureka College\u201d and while majoring in Economics, <strong>he grew an interest in sports, politics<\/strong> <strong>and theatre<\/strong>, the latest being turned into an actual career for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Before getting into politics, <strong>Reagan had a contract with Warner Bros<\/strong>. and starred along <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000012\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bette Davis<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Humphrey_Bogart\" target=\"_blank\">Humphrey Bogart<\/a>, with a short break when he fought in World War II. During World War I <strong>Eisenhower was 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Lieutenant<\/strong>, but after the end of the war returned to the rank of captain for 16 years. Eisenhower became General after the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor\" target=\"_blank\">Pearl Harbor attack <\/a>and eventually led <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Operation_Overlord\" target=\"_blank\">Operation Overlord<\/a> and participated in the liberation of France.<\/p>\n<h3>34<sup>th<\/sup> president<\/h3>\n<p>Becoming the president of the United States was already a fact long before his actual election. The major role he played in the two wars and especially in <strong>defeating the enemies gave him a huge advantage<\/strong> and won him the election. His term meant bringing to life the bill of the Interstate Highway System and updating the Civil Rights Acts twice. Truman was also very close to his parents, his mother being his pillar and adviser from infancy and even during his time as president, while his father\u2019s <strong>friends helped him begin his political career<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>33<sup>rd<\/sup> president<\/h3>\n<p>After serving in World War I, being the judge of Jackson Country, a U.S. Senator and Vice president, Harry Truman <strong>became the president of the United States<\/strong> \u2013 twice! \u2013 From 1945 until 1953. The 33<sup>rd<\/sup> president played a role in the end of World War II by using Atomic Bombs over the Pacific, proposed the early modern version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964\" target=\"_blank\">Civil Rights Act<\/a> and was <strong>the father of NATO, CIA<\/strong> and National Security Council. The beginning of his political career was marked by the signing of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence\" target=\"_blank\">Declaration of Independence<\/a>\u201d, which was followed by him becoming <strong>the state legislator and governor of Virginia<\/strong>, a member of Congress and the Secretary of State.<\/p>\n<h3>3<sup>rd<\/sup> president<\/h3>\n<p>After a time as Vice President to John Adams, Jefferson began his term as the third President of the United States in 1801. Considered an indispensable leader, <strong>Jefferson was against the Federalist movement<\/strong> and managed to lower taxes, diminishing the national debt.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, historians claim \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.monticello.org\/site\/jefferson\/louisiana-purchase\" target=\"_blank\">The Louisiana Purchase<\/a>\u201d as Jefferson\u2019s greatest accomplishment as its addition <strong>doubled the area of the United States<\/strong>. After years of being home schooled, Roosevelt enrolled in Harvard College where he took a significant interest in biology. He also joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.columbia.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Columbia Law School<\/a>, but studying law was not as significant for the young naturalist. His career as a politician was marked by his enrollment in the Republican party.<\/p>\n<h3>26<sup>th<\/sup> president<\/h3>\n<p>After campaigning for other presidential candidates, participating in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cuban_War_of_Independence\" target=\"_blank\">Cuban War<\/a> and spending time as the Governor of New York and Vice President, Theodore Roosevelt<strong> finally became the president of the U.S.<\/strong> in 1901. He ran for State senator in 1910 and spent time as the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assistant_Secretary_of_the_Navy\" target=\"_blank\">Assistant Secretary of the Navy<\/a>. He taught himself law and practiced it for a significant amount of time. As the head of the state, he led the Union to triumph against the Confederacy and avoided the recognition of the Confederacy by the British.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He<\/strong> <strong>finally abolished slavery in the states<\/strong>, while encouraging other states to follow the example, and authorized the Army to protect them.
