Many auctioneers host annual events to raise money for their companies or charities.<\/p>\n<p>In this article, we\u2019ll be giving you readers a <strong>list of sixteen of some of the priciest cars<\/strong> sold in an auction in various states and countries.\u00a0There are many records out there and we\u2019re going to mostly talk about the ones that set a world record, but <strong>we will mention a few cars<\/strong> from other set records as well.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>16. Twenty five of these cards were <strong>produced between 1960 and 1963<\/strong>, including four of the Sanction IIs and two of the Sanction IIIs. Between 1964 and 1965, <strong>thirty two units were built<\/strong> and one is on display for everyone to see in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>13. Ferrari 290 MM<\/p>\n<div id=\"quote_shortcode\" class=\"sixtop-post-quote post-quote-right\" >\n<div class=\"quote-sign-box hidden-on-desktop\"><\/div>\n<p>        &ldquo; The most expensive car sold in 2015 &rdquo;<\/p>\n<div id=\"quote_shortcode_after\">\n        <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/h2>\n<p class=\"formatted-entry-p\">On December 10, 2015 in New York City, RM Auctions sold a <strong>Ferrari 290 MM for $28,050,000<\/strong>. Only<strong> two of these types were built<\/strong> as 100% new.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>11. It was auctioned off by Kruse International. Another one was also auctioned off on January 6, 1973 for $153,000 by the same company.<\/p>\n<p>The Mercedes-Benz 770 is a luxury car that was assembled in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercedes-benz.com\/en\/mercedes-benz\/classic\/museum\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stuttgart<\/a>, Germany from 1930 to 1943. 205 units were made. It has four doors and six seats.<\/p>\n<p>The car is very well known for <strong>being associated with Nazis<\/strong>, especially Adolf Hitler, before and after World War 2. This car is also known as its German translation, Gro\u00dfer Mercedes.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>9. Mercedes-Benz 500K<\/h2>\n<p class=\"formatted-entry-p\">On July 12, 1984, the 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K was <strong>sold in an<\/strong> <strong>auction for $1.45 million dollars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"quote_shortcode\" class=\"sixtop-post-quote post-quote-right\" >\n<div class=\"quote-sign-box hidden-on-desktop\"><\/div>\n<p>        &ldquo; More powerful and much bigger engine &rdquo;<\/p>\n<div id=\"quote_shortcode_after\">\n        <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It was put together in Sindelfingen, Germany and designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Friedrich_Geiger\" target=\"_blank\">Friedrich Geiger<\/a>, an automobile designer in Germany and its production time was two years, starting from the year 1934 to 1936.<\/p>\n<p>This car had a much <strong>more powerful and much bigger engine<\/strong> than the Mercedes-Benz 380 that the public had learned about just a year before.<\/p>\n<p>342 units of the <strong>500K were created<\/strong> during its two years of production time. The DBR2 <strong>made its debut at the 1957<\/strong> 24 Hours of Le Mans.<\/p>\n<p>The DBR2 competed in a<strong> larger engine capacity group<\/strong> than the DBR1. The materials used to make the cosmetic parts of the car were aluminum and steel.<\/p>\n<p>Aluminum was for the doors, hood, and trunk lid and steel was for the rest of the car. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carrozzeria_Scaglietti\" target=\"_blank\">Sergio Scaglietti <\/a>made this car to be his own vision of the 250 GT.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>3. It was sold at Bonhams\u2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed event.<\/p>\n<p>This car was<strong> part of the Formula One category<\/strong> and was designed by Mercedes-Benz executive and engineer <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rudolf_Uhlenhaut\" target=\"_blank\">Rudolf Uhlenhaut<\/a>.
