This may not be the finest Marvel film to date but it’s quite possibly the most entertaining and spectacular movie the genre has offered in the past few years. X-Men: First Class<\/a> was by all means a stunning accomplishment and by combining a strong narrative pace, compelling characters, a good sense of humor, spellbinding action sequences, and last but not least excellent performances all around, director Matthew Vaughn<\/a> crafted what is arguably the best installment in the X-Men franchise.<\/p>\n James McAvoy<\/a> and Michael Fassbender<\/a> were simply amazing. The latter in particular demonstrated in the same year that he can be just as good in some more independent and serious work such as shame, as well as in a mainstream Hollywood blockbuster such as this. On the other hand, Jennifer Lawrence<\/a> was really good as Mystique while Kevin Bacon<\/a> was extremely cool to watch as the villain.<\/p>\n Set in the most difficult years of the Cold War during the Cuban missile crisis in the early 1960s, this film was something more than a simple comic book action film; instead it feels more than once like a spy movie or even as an action-packed political thriller, and that was totally awesome.<\/p>\n It surpassed all our expectations and honestly we couldn’t have ever imagined of a better prequel to the X-Men trilogy<\/a>, which was already great in the first place.<\/p>\n
