6th: Dracula (2013)<\/h2>\n

I think this show<\/strong> was probably grossly underrated<\/strong> because it had<\/strong> too few in common<\/strong> with the idea of Dracula<\/a> that was built up among the years, but if you will give it a chance<\/strong>, you`ll see just how much potential<\/strong> it has.<\/p>\n

Although it`s entirely different<\/strong> from<\/strong> Bram Stoker`s version<\/a>, the story takes place in the same Victorian London, that the crew managed to exquisitely recreate for us to enjoy.The story<\/strong> has been re-written with a unique spin<\/strong> on that is mostly likely to disappoint Stoker`s fans<\/strong>, but that doesn`t mean it`s not worth exploring the possibility. No one<\/strong> would`ve been interested in yet another remake<\/strong> of the power hungry, blood drinking, demon.<\/p>\n

A new version<\/h3>\n

This Dracula appears<\/strong> to be sophisticated<\/strong>, educated<\/strong> and unreasonably charming<\/strong>, but don`t worry, he is not tamed<\/strong>. Underneath he remains<\/strong> the calculated and ruthless killer<\/a> that we`ve<\/strong> learnt to accept and love<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"movie<\/strong>He introduces himself<\/strong> to the world as Alexander Grayson<\/strong>, an American Industrialist, however his true intentions are not as noble as he claims them to be. He is<\/strong> naturally there for revenge<\/strong>, and it soon turns out in a game of cat and mouse in which he soon discovers<\/strong> he has as much too lose as his enemies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Cast<\/h3>\n

When you intend to rewrite<\/strong> one of the most famous vampire stories of all times<\/a>, you have to make sure<\/strong> you have<\/strong> all the resources<\/strong> to back your plans up. As you will see, each member of the cast<\/strong> has been carefully chosen<\/strong> and their approach on the characters is without fault.<\/p>\n

Rhys Meyers portrays<\/strong> his complex character<\/strong> with such ease that it will leave you with your jaw dropped. He totally replaces the concept of the heartless vampire<\/strong> by showing us his warm<\/strong>, loyal<\/strong> and protective side<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Rhys Meyer<\/h3>\n

We all expect a lot from the actor<\/strong> who played King Henry in the Tudors <\/a>and not even the critics of this show can deny that Rhys Meyer has really outdone himself<\/strong>. He surrounds his character with an aura<\/strong> that emits<\/strong> such sensuality and passion<\/strong> that he becomes unpredictable. <\/p>\n

You`ll never know what he has in store for you<\/strong> and one of the best examples<\/strong> is the way he brings his character to life<\/strong>, the cold-blooded vampire is overwhelmed of a joie de vivre that drives him to take decisions that we`d never expect.<\/p>\n

Oliver Jackson-Cohen<\/h3>\n

Oliver makes probably one of the most handsome Jonathan Harkers we`ll ever be given to see. Just like in Dracula`s case, he<\/strong> also wanted to<\/strong> completely reinvent his character<\/strong> as to not be a simple and harmless participant.<\/p>\n

He takes his role and twists it around<\/strong> until he ends up standing on the same level as his rival from where he fights him as equal. Oliver is also able to exteriorize his character`s<\/strong> internal conflict to the point where you can<\/strong> no longer tell the difference from you and him<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Jessica De Gouw<\/h3>\n

Jessia De Gouw delivers<\/strong> a stunning performance<\/strong> both as Dracula`s<\/strong> long departed wife Ilona<\/strong>, as well as the present-day Mina Murray<\/strong>. We all know of this age-old love triangle<\/strong>, but in this case, Mina is no longer just a passive victim<\/strong> that others have to take decisions for. She is very much in control<\/strong> and this series is the perfect example of how she can influence<\/strong> the other 2 parts, a side of the story<\/strong> that none of the other Dracula inspired movies have explored to this extent.<\/p>\n

To support the exclusivity of this idea we have Jessica admitting during an interview: “I never really felt the pressure of playing a pre-existing character, because I knew I would make it my own, and an audience would either like it or not.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

5th: Hemlock Grove<\/h2>\n

From the producers of House of Cards comes another recommendation for those passionate about the horror genre. If you were disappointed<\/strong> by all the latest supernatural teen movies<\/strong> out there, this show will remind you<\/strong> what you loved about them. You might think that you`ve seen all<\/strong> there is to see about vampires and werewolves, but this series takes a whole new turn<\/strong> when it comes to their powers and limits<\/strong>, not to mention the werewolf transformation<\/strong> will be the best you`ve ever seen.<\/p>\n
