Born as Michael Shawn Hickenbottom, Shawn \u201cThe Heartbreak Kid\u201d Michaels wrestled for WWE from 1988 until 1998, when he retired. Shawn gave wrestling another chance in 2002, only to give it up entirely in 2010 in a ceremonial retirement.<\/p>\n

Michaels won the WWF Championship (now called WWE World Heavyweight Championship) three times, in March 1996, January 1997 and November 1997. He also held the title of World Heavyweight Champion, won in November 2002 in the first ever Elimination Chamber match. He fought against Christ Jericho, Booker T, Rob Van Dam and Kane, emerging victorious in the second promotion of the World Heavyweight Championship.<\/p>\n

WWE Hall of Fame and Slammy Award for Moment of the Year<\/h3>\n

Michaels earned his place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was inducted in 2011 by Triple H. During his career as a wrestler, Michaels also won the WWE Intercontinental Championship three times (October 1992, June 1993 and July 1995), the Royal Rumble two times (1995 and 1996) and the first wrestler to achieve the WWE Grand Slam (by winning four specific championships or all of them within a certain promotion).<\/p>\n

After his 2010 match versus The Undertaker in WrestleMania XXVI, Michaels\u00a0received the Slammy Award for Moment of the Year. Couple of days later, Michaels announced his new role as an ambassador as part of a long term deal with WWE.<\/p>\n
