Christy came to be known to the world of wrestling after winning the 2004 WWE Diva Search ($250.000 prize money and a one year contract with WWE).
In her childhood, Christy described herself as more of a tomboy, with great interest in wrestling and dirt bikes. Christy’s major at Mt. San Jacinto College was in dancing, after being a cheerleader for two years at Temecula Valley High School.
Although her main interest seemed to be dancing, Christy wanted to pursue a career in modelling. That’s why she moved to Los Angeles after her graduation. There, she joined a burlesque dance team known as the “Purrfect Angelz” with whom she performed at Harley motorcycle rallies and Easyrider tours.
The next step Christy Hemme took was to pose for magazines such as Maxim, Playboy and Rolling Stones and to make appearances in music videos such as: Trace Adkins’ “Chrome” and “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk”, in Blink-182 and Sonic videos.
Christy made the transition to wrestling after winning the 2004 WWE Diva Search competition. Her career as a wrestler began on Raw, as part of its roster. A feud with the runner-up of the Diva Search competition, Carmelia DeCesare, led to a “lingerie pillow fight” with Christy coming out as winner:
“ Leaving broke my heart... but doing the right thing is something I will always be proud of. ”
Although Christy rose to fame quickly, she didn’t stay with WWE for more than a year, being released from her contract in 2005. Few years later, Christy commented on what happened and said that she parted on her own terms because she stuck to her morals and values.
Christy later signed with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in April 2006, making her debut on the 23rd of April. Her roles was to host the show “Impact!”, and to co-host “TNA Global Impact” with Jeremy Borash. However, her main desire was to wrestle, chance which she got later on the Impact! show. A neck injury that she suffered from practice stopped Christy from going on the ring for seven months.
Since 2009, Christy has been the backstage interviewer for “Impact!” and since April 2011, the ring announcer for the same show.
