Kirsten Dunst started modeling at the age of three. In 1989, Kirsten Dunst had her first movie role in Woody Allen’s short film, Oedipus Wrecks.

Roles

She starred in High Strung alongside actor Jim Carey and in 1993 Generation but it was the role of Claudia from the movie Interview With the Vampire that gained her break-out alongside actors Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Following the years she had projects such as Little Women in 1994, Jumanji in 1995 and Drop Dead Gorgeous in 1999.

Transition

She made the transition from child stress to adult with the drama film The Virgin Suicides in 1999. For her performance in the drama The Cat’s Meow she won Best Actress Silver Ombú category award at the 2002 Mar del Plata Film Festival. For her roles in Mona Lisa’s Smile in 2003 and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind in 2004 she received positive reviews and described as “nifty and clever”.

Career breakthrough

In 2004 she enjoyed success once again from the movie Spider-man 2 and in 2006 for her role in the biographical film Marie Antoinette. Her career breakthrough was marked by the drama film Melancholia whereas Kirsten received favorable reviews and won Best Actress Award at Cannes Film Festival in 2011.

Personal life

Kirsten is a supporter for the AIDS foundation , breast cancer awareness and the telethon Stand Up to Cancer. The actress has struggled with depression in the early 2008 and got treatment.

Her love life has been marked by actor Jake Gyllenhaal whom she dated for 2 years and in 2012 she started dating her co-star Garrett Hedlund.

Kirsten has come a long way since she appeared in Oedipus Wrecks and has convinced us that she is a grown, mature woman and because of her talented performing we are able to believe that she won’t stop now and has yet a lot to show.
