The story
The story begins during the evening, when a New York couple, Sam and Molly, are confronted by a mugger. Despite submitting to his demands, Sam is murdered anyway. He then finds himself a wandering spirit, invisible to the living world. He returns to Molly but can’t communicate with her at all. Slowly, he learns details about how his death came to be and seeks revenge on his murderer, as well as tries to protect Molly.
“Ghost” is a film with brilliant performances and an intriguing plot, a romantic burst so powerful and heavy that it becomes the shadow of a tragic fairytale. Tragic is the most important word here, as Sam loses his life and is condemned to roam the earth even after death, in an attempt to discover why he could not move on.
The Best Scene
The movie`s best scene comes when Swayze is able to use the physical presence of a medium in order to caress the woman he loves one last time. Despite what one`s religious beliefs are, this is bound to make one believe in life after death.
The performances are stellar from all four leading characters, but Whoopi Goldberg deserves particular attention. The way she commands the screen and interacts with the other leads is an honour to watch, showing various sides of the character she is portraying. The movie is beautifully executed and it surely doesn`t let down the audience.
There are many reasons to see this film, as it`s not just another tear factory romance movie. There are other plot developments going on that provide suspense and, not to mention, a nice mixture of horror and humor elements.
5th: Love Story
Everyone is bound to recognize this title. Love Story is the legendary tale of two polar opposites finding comfort in each other. This is one of the few cases when it is said that the movie is better than the book. Simple and passionate, Arthur Hiller attempts to create the supreme love story with flawless romance mixed with the realities of anger. With his efforts, he has achieved The Love Story. Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal, who play the lovers on film, bring the characters to life in a way the novel didn’t even attempt.

The story is well known. The two, Oliver and Jennifer, opposites in nearly every way, share a love they cannot deny, nor ignore. Falling deeply and powerfully in love, their attraction to one another defies everything they have ever believed in.
They put their hearts on line for each other, facing many difficulties because of their opposite backgrounds. Oliver`s choice ends up with him being disowned by his father and despite Jennifer`s efforts to reconcile them, it does not happen until the very end of the story. Despite the conflict, they continue building their live together relying on their own strength. Soon, what began as a brutally honest friendship becomes the love story of their lives.
Why should you make this your Valentine`s movie?
Easy! It exhales beauty and romance. The movie is about a love affair that is so perfect that even the death that terminates it becomes a symbol of its perfection. “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” What is a better message than this, that you want to convey to your significant other?

We`ve seen many movies emphasising how love can overcome distance and any obstacles in its way, but how about time? The Lake House has its own unique way in dealing with the theme of love. In addition to that, it also proves that looks don`t really matter when it comes to love.

Although it is based on two paradoxes, that is, time travel and the possibility of two people to reach out to each other through time, the story`s fundamental romantic impulse makes you simply accept it as a premise, with no questions asked.

It follows protocol down to almost every layer of Romance, but somewhere along the line it takes a detour down the path of unique. It resonates with the heart and with the soul on a whole new level, giving you that sense of love and enjoyment that you’ve been searching for.
How is time travelling possible?
A woman, Kate Foster, living in a glass house built over a lake, decides to move out and this leaves a note for the next tenant, Alex Wyler. What sets it all in motion is the strange response she received from him. As their correspondence continues, they realize he thinks it is 2004 and she thinks it is 2006.
The mailbox becomes their bridge between the two time frames. As they got to know each other better, they unmistakably fell in love. Even if a conversation seems impossible in such a situation, they carry it based on the words in their letters.
The Lake House delivers a very unique love story that happens to transcend time itself.
