If you were rooting for this 18 years old marriage to be forever, we have bad news. Award Winning Nominee Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas announced in June 2014 that “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost 20-year marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family, and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.”
A friend of theirs said that they have been down this road before but didn’t thought that they will actually do it someday.
Former marriages of the Hollywood movie stars
The two met in 1995 on the set for the movie Two Much and have been a couple since then. They have a daughter, Stella for whom Melanie asked custody, sole physical and child support in the divorce files that she intended. Antonio was previously married to actress Ana Leza with whom he had no children. Melanie has a daughter, Dakota Johnson, and a son Alexander Bauer from former marriages with actors Don Johnson and Steve Bauer.
It appears that the pair had several problems, problems you could imagine might occur in an almost 20 year marriage. In 2009, Melanie checked into rehab for the third time and in 2012 rumors had been thrown that Antonio was spotted with two different women getting a bit too cozy.

The three-time Golden Globe nominee, Antonio revealed in 2010 that he had fallen over and over in love again with Melanie over the 18 years but after being spotted in the arms of another woman in 2012, Melanie tweeted “Who believes in marriage and why? Or why not?” which made it obvious that the couple wasn’t doing great. Antonio tried to win Melanie’s trust back with all his powers since then but he didn’t quite succeeded.
While Melanie is starting a new phase in her life, trying to concentrate on her personal life and is happy that her kids are almost grown up, Antonio is trying a healing process of his own with younger women with whom he was spotted after the divorce.
